Reviews Overview

Most Liked

The charm of The Blue Bell Ranskill lies in its combination of tasty food and welcoming service. Diners rave about the generous portion sizes, especially the Sunday roast beef, complete with enormous Yorkshire puddings. The variety on the menu is impressive, featuring classic favorites like fish and chips, homemade pies, and an array of burgers. The quiz nights and live music performances consistently draw in a lively crowd, enhancing the pub's atmosphere. Responsive, cheerful staff play a significant role in creating a friendly dining experience, making guests feel right at home.

Most Disliked

Some diners express disappointment regarding the small menu options during group bookings, noting that the portion sizes could vary significantly. Occasionally, customers comment on difficulties with sunlight affecting their experience if seated near the windows, particularly during sunny afternoons. Another point of concern is the lack of window blinds, which could improve comfort for those dining indoors on bright days. While the overall vibe remains friendly, some guests note that peak times lead to longer waits for service, though the staff generally handle the rush with commendable professionalism.

Absolutely wonderful staff! So friendly and polite managed to squeeze us in as we didn't book as we were passing through. The pub was spotless and music wasn't too loud. Husband had the Sunday roast beef, which he enjoyed thoroughly, the Yorkshire puddings were HUGE! I opted for the beef lasagne and I wasn't disappointed, portion sizes were very generous and enjoyable without feeling overwhelmed. For desert we had the cheesecake of the day which was raspberry white chocolate which again was brilliant. We will definitely be returning to this little gem of a pub!

Beautiful Pub , Friendly Staff. I had bangers and mash while my partner Crispy Chicken Bites. We both really enjoyed our meals. Didn't break the bank either . Give it a try if you are in the area.

Went as part of a U3A Lunch Group of about 30. A reduced menu was compiled for us, mostly around £10. A couple of items £15. Portion sizes were reduced, but that was generally OK. The gammon with pineapple, egg and chips, was a tad on the small size, however, the fish and chips were advertised as small cod, but when it arrived I would definitely say it was a medium to large, beautifully cooked with white flakes just falling apart.😋 It was sunny whilst we were eating. I had made sure I sat with my back to the window, but people who came later had the sun ☀️ in their eyes and were struggling as there was no blind. Staff were pleasant and helpful. I can recommend this place and would go.again.

What can I say... We had a meal while camping . I can honestly say the service was amazing so friendly it felt like I was at home . But the food is just out of this world . This fish was the size of a whale. The chips where beautifully cooked so tasty. The home made lasagne was so tasty well cooked & presented just amazing. Burgers just sublime. The scampi with prawns just perfectly cooked & so tasty... All I can say is 6 meals 6very happy people. I can highly recommend this place for a great evening meal with friendly service thanks to Lotty & the staff . A big thanks to the chefs too.

Food was good quality and well presented. Table bit small for 9 people and food came out slow and in 2 parts so some food was cool when all the veg and gravy arrived.
